Tom Brady has finally opened up about the “tension” that had been building between him and Bill Belichick before Brady left the New England Patriots. In his latest newsletter, Brady reflected on his free agency in 2020, admitting that the growing tension with Belichick was a key factor in his decision to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brady explained that after two decades together, they were both heading in different directions with their careers, and the Patriots were moving in a different direction as a franchise. He admitted that the tension was something that could only be resolved by either splitting or reassessing priorities.
In the newsletter, Brady shared that for a few years, he had a “creeping decision” about leaving, and he weighed his options. He created a ranking system based on factors like skill players and weather conditions. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came out on top, which ultimately led to Brady’s decision to move on in 2020.
Given his success with seven Super Bowl rings, it seems like Brady’s decision to leave New England was the right one!
