Russell Wilson is moving on. The veteran quarterback has officially left the Pittsburgh Steelers and is now a New York Giant. After the news broke, Wilson took to social media to share a simple but confident message:
“Been here before… can’t wait to do it again.”
He’s referring to MetLife Stadium, where the Giants play—familiar territory for him.
Wilson, who turns 36 soon, is expected to be the Giants’ starting QB. He signed a deal guaranteeing him $10.5 million, with the potential to reach $21 million. He’ll be leading the offense ahead of Jameis Winston, whom the Giants signed just last week.
Wilson’s time in Pittsburgh ended on a rocky note. His performance dipped toward the end of the season, and reports surfaced that Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith limited his ability to make calls at the line of scrimmage. That reportedly caused friction within the organization, making a return to Pittsburgh unlikely.
With Wilson’s departure, the Steelers find themselves in a tough spot—they’ve now lost all three of their quarterbacks from last season. Even if Aaron Rodgers decides not to join the team, it looks like Pittsburgh is ready to move forward without Wilson.
Now, Wilson gets a fresh start in New York. Let’s see if he can turn things around with the Giants.
