A New Era in Detroit: Former QB Says Goff’s the Man

Former Detroit Lions quarterback Joey Harrington has expressed his support for current quarterback Jared Goff. Harrington, who played for the Lions from 2002 to 2005, believes Goff deserves more credit for his accomplishments.

Harrington praised Goff, saying he has taken the Lions to new heights. “He’s taken Detroit where it has never been before, and what he is doing is nothing short of fantastic,” Harrington said.

Goff has led the Lions to three straight winning seasons, two playoff berths, back-to-back NFC North titles, and a franchise-best 15-2 record in 2024. Harrington believes Goff’s accomplishments are impressive, especially considering the team’s struggles in the past.

Harrington also addressed criticism of Goff’s performance, saying that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. “He’s not trying to be somebody else. He’s not trying to be some mobile quarterback. He’s just being himself, and that’s enough,” Harrington said.

The former quarterback also shared his thoughts on the Lions’ Super Bowl window. Despite the departures of key coaches and players, Harrington believes the team can still make another run. “I see no reason why they can’t make another run again,” he said.
