Aaron Jones Wants to Finish Career with Vikings, Addresses Future Ahead of Lions Showdown
As the Minnesota Vikings prepare for their NFC North-deciding clash against the Detroit Lions, running back Aaron Jones has opened up about his future with the team. With his contract set to expire this offseason, Jones expressed a strong desire to remain in Minnesota.
“I hope to be here to the end of my career,” Jones shared with the Minnesota Star Tribune. “This is an excellent place… If I can finish my career here, this is where I’d like to finish.”
Jones, who joined the Vikings after a successful stint with the Packers, has been a critical piece of Minnesota’s offense this season, amassing:
1,093 rushing yards
5 rushing touchdowns
378 receiving yards
2 receiving touchdowns
Despite battling a quad contusion, Jones is expected to play in Sunday’s showdown. Reflecting on his health, he quipped, “Shoot, another eight-10 years, hopefully,” before emphasizing how good he feels after playing a near-full season.
Jones also addressed the “injury-prone” narrative that followed him from his Packers days:
“Last year, I missed some games and played through injuries… [This season], I’m showing that I’ll be ready every Sunday, no matter what.”
As the Vikings (14-2) battle the Lions (14-2) for the NFC North title and the conference’s top seed, Jones remains a cornerstone of their high-powered offense, led by quarterback Sam Darnold.
Kickoff for the highly anticipated game is set for Sunday night at 8:20 p.m
. ET on NBC.
