Abdul Carter Drops Giants Clue, Sends NFL Draft Rumor Mill Spinning

Abdul Carter Drops Cryptic Giants Post Before NFL Draft—and Fans Are Buzzing

With the NFL Draft just around the corner, Penn State’s star pass rusher Abdul Carter stirred things up on Friday by posting a pic of legendary linebacker Lawrence Taylor—aka one of the greatest pass rushers the NFL’s ever seen.

Sure, it makes total sense for Carter to look up to a guy like LT. The man was a 10-time Pro Bowler, a Hall of Famer, and completely changed the way teams use edge rushers. But here’s where it gets interesting: Taylor played for the New York Giants. And guess who has the No. 3 overall pick this year? Yep, the Giants.

Carter posted the photo from inside the Giants’ facility during his visit there, and it included a famous quote from Taylor: “Once a Giant, always a Giant.” That got people talking. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport even reposted it with a simple “Hmm.”

Naturally, Patriots fans weren’t thrilled—they’re sitting at No. 4 in the draft and were hoping Carter might fall to them. But one excited Giants fan replied, basically saying, “You’re gonna love being a Giant, and after that, it’s straight to the Hall of Fame in a gold jacket.”

Giants beat reporter Art Stapleton added that Carter’s visit with the team was still in progress. And the “Talkin’ Giants” podcast chimed in too, saying Carter just let everyone know he’s in Jersey in the coolest way possible.

Carter probably won’t go No. 1 overall—Tennessee’s expected to grab QB Cam Ward—but there’s a good chance the Browns might snag him at No. 2. If not, it could all come down to whether or not the Giants want a QB at No. 3… which seems less and less likely.
