After All the Ups and Downs… Dan Campbell Just Gave Jameson Williams New Life

Jameson Williams looks ready to deliver a much stronger second half of the 2025 season. And if you were thinking about sending him back to your fantasy bench this week, it might be time to reconsider.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell made a bold change in Week 10, taking over offensive play-calling from coordinator John Morton. The shift immediately paid off. Detroit rolled out one of its most electric offensive showings of the year, giving Jared Goff a three-touchdown outing with over 300 passing yards — and Williams led the team with 119 receiving yards.

For Williams, it was his first 100-yard performance since Week 2, coming just a week after Morton publicly apologized for not finding better ways to maximize the team’s fastest playmaker.

Campbell stepping in has clearly reset the trajectory for Williams, pushing him right back into relevance for fantasy football managers who have been unsure about when to trust him again.

A Reversal in Fantasy Narrative

NBC Sports analyst Denny Carter regularly highlights regression candidates during the season, and Williams had been listed previously as a prime candidate for statistical drop-off. But this week, he’s firmly in the opposite category.

“Assuming Campbell keeps offensive play calling duties to himself — a good assumption, I’d say — Williams’ Week 10 usage probably means he’ll be more than a splash-play dependent WR3/4 in 12-team fantasy leagues. More aggressive passing and more intermediate looks for Jamo could do the impossible: Vault him into low-end WR2 territory,” Carter wrote.

Williams is already rostered in the majority of leagues — 87% on Yahoo and 86% on ESPN — so the real decision is whether to confidently place him back in starting fantasy lineups, not whether to pick him up off waivers. But the Lions now face a tough Week 11 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles are allowing 209.3 net passing yards per game, ranking 14th in the league, and they recently held Green Bay to just 176 passing yards while sacking Jordan Love three times.

Detroit’s offensive line remains a concern after recent struggles from center Graham Glasgow and the loss of starting left guard Christian Mahogany. Still, Kayode Awosika performed admirably in Week 10 against Washington, offering hope that Detroit can keep Goff upright long enough to let Williams thrive.

If the Lions plan to recreate the explosive rhythm they found last week, Williams must remain a central part of the game plan — especially on crossers and deep-breaking routes. That involvement alone makes him a strong bet for another productive fantasy outing, even against a formidable Eagles defense.
