Aidan Hutchinson Opens Up About Myles Garrett Trade Speculation and NFL Honors Conversation

Lions Star Reflects on Viral Moment and Talks About His NFL Future

Aidan Hutchinson recently addressed the swirling speculation about his interaction with Myles Garrett at the NFL Honors award show. The Detroit Lions’ defensive star shed light on what was actually discussed in their conversation and shared insights into his injury recovery and excitement for the upcoming season.

The Viral Photo and Trade Speculation

A moment captured at the NFL Honors event showed Hutchinson and Lions quarterback Jared Goff in conversation with Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. Given Garrett’s public comments about a possible trade, fans immediately speculated that Detroit’s stars were recruiting him to join the Lions.

On an episode of The Squeeze podcast—hosted by actor and Lions fan Taylor Lautner and his wife Tay—Hutchinson set the record straight on what they actually talked about.

Imagining a Hutchinson-Garrett Duo

“If me and Myles were to pair up, that would be deadly, you know?” Hutchinson said. “I was talking to him, we were at the Honors and we were just talking about what could be. And although it’s probably unlikely, I think I would be thrilled to play next to him if it were to happen. But, yeah, our whole d-line would be like totally elevated and we would—whew—that’d be a scary defensive line.”

Hutchinson also spoke highly of Garrett, emphasizing their mutual respect and personal connection.

“We get along, too. I’ve seen him these last few years at different things. He texted me after I got hurt, which was just a cool thing. Guys outside of your own team who reach out to you—so I think he’s a good dude. If he does (come), great, but I don’t know. We’ll see. But that would be awesome.”

As of now, the Browns have not indicated a willingness to part ways with their defensive superstar. However, with the offseason still unfolding, anything remains possible.

Hutchinson’s Road to Recovery

Beyond trade talk, Hutchinson also provided an important update on his injury status. Having missed time last season, he revealed that he’s nearing full clearance.

“I’ll be cleared in a couple weeks now,” he said. “I’m just about at that point where everything is looking good, but just a couple more weeks to finalize everything, I’d say.”

Since the interview, Hutchinson has been seen running at the Lions’ training facility, an encouraging sign for fans hoping to see him at full strength for the upcoming season.

Excited for a Return to the Field

Hutchinson didn’t hide his eagerness to get back to playing. The extended time away has only fueled his desire to contribute to the Lions’ defense.

“Yeah, absolutely,” he said. “I cannot wait to play football again, dude. I cannot wait, because my last game was in October. So the second I can get back out there—even practice. Practice is alright, but once I step back in there for Week 1, whenever that is, that is what I look forward to.”

With his return on the horizon and the Lions poised to make another strong push, all eyes will be on Hutchinson as he looks to elevate his game in the 2025 season. Whether Myles Garrett ever joins him in Detroit remains uncertain, but one thing is clear—Hutchinson is ready to dominate once again.
