Aidan Hutchinson isn’t just back—he’s back with a vengeance.
It’s been nearly 10 months since Hutchinson’s 2024 season came to a brutal halt with a leg fracture in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys. At that point, he already had 7.5 sacks in just five games—putting him on pace to shatter the league lead. And now? After a long rehab and what was supposed to be a quiet return?
He’s terrifying everyone at camp.
From Comeback Trail to Defensive Nightmare
By all accounts, Hutchinson hasn’t missed a beat. In fact, he might be better than ever. Reporters on the ground at the Lions’ training camp are tossing out words like “scary” and drawing Myles Garrett comparisons—yes, that Myles Garrett. The one who had 14 sacks last year and consistently wrecks game plans before kickoff.
What’s even wilder? Hutchinson had more sacks through five games last season than Garrett did in any stretch. 1.5 sacks per game was Hutchinson’s average. Stretch that over 17 games and you’re talking 25.5 sacks, which would’ve obliterated Trey Hendrickson’s 2024 league-leading 17.5.
In other words: He wasn’t just good. He was on pace to be historic.
“He’s Moving Like a Freak Again”
One Lions reporter noted how Hutchinson is now moving with “explosion,” the kind that turns offensive linemen into matadors and quarterbacks into runners. He’s lean, fast, and seemingly unbothered by his injury.
What’s that mean for the NFC? Trouble.
Especially for the NFC North, where offensive lines are still sorting themselves out. The Bears added Joe Thuney, but even that might not be enough to contain the havoc Hutchinson’s cooking up.
With three division QBs in some level of uncertainty—rookies, backups, or just flat-out under pressure—the idea of a fully-healed, pissed-off Hutchinson coming off the edge should give every coach in the North night sweats.
Help or No Help, He’s a One-Man Wrecking Crew
The Lions have been in the market for another edge rusher to pair with Hutchinson, but even if they don’t land one, it sounds like they’re not sweating it. Between Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport, the defensive line is already turning heads at camp.
If they do add another dog to the hunt? Good luck, NFC.
This defense already has bite—and its sharpest teeth are just getting started again.
Aidan Hutchinson: 2025’s Most Dangerous “What If”
He was a local legend in Michigan. He was a rising star in 2023. He was a sack leader before his 2024 injury. Now, he might just be the NFL’s comeback nightmare.
The rest of the league better hope those comparisons to Garrett are exaggerated. But if they’re even half true?
Aidan Hutchinson might break the NFC.
