Alabama Baseball Gets Crushed by Auburn in SEC Road Opener

Well, that one stung. Alabama baseball had a rough night Friday as they took on rival Auburn at Plainsman Park. Things went downhill fast—the Tide pulled their starting pitcher Zane Adams with zero outs in the second inning. It only got worse from there, ending in a 10-0 loss in just seven innings.

Auburn came in hot, clearly not fazed by their midweek loss to UAB. They jumped on Alabama early with four runs in the first inning, two more in the second, and never looked back. They racked up 15 hits total and scored in nearly every inning.

Alabama? Not so much. They only managed two hits the whole game—one in the fifth and one in the seventh. Auburn pitcher Samuel Dutton threw nearly five no-hit innings and made the Tide’s lineup look completely overmatched.

Credit where it’s due: Auburn dominated in every area. Alabama head coach Rob Vaughn admitted it himself—his team got outplayed big time.

Five different Auburn players matched or beat Alabama’s entire team hit total. Logan Steele and Chris Rembert both had two-run hits that really did the damage. Catcher Chase Fralick went a perfect 4-for-4, and leadoff man Eric Snow chipped in with three hits too.

Meanwhile, Alabama cycled through five pitchers, and only one of them managed to keep Auburn off the board. Coulson Buchanan gave them three solid innings in relief, but even he got tagged for a couple runs.

With this loss, Alabama drops to 26-5 overall and 6-4 in the SEC. And Plainsman Park hasn’t been too kind to Coach Vaughn—he’s now 1-3 there.

Next up is a doubleheader on Saturday, thanks to a schedule shuffle. First pitch is at 2 p.m. CT on SEC Network+, and the second game starts at 7 p.m. on SEC Network.

Coach Vaughn is trying to stay positive, saying, “The sun’s going to come up tomorrow and it’ll be 0-0 again.” Let’s see if the Tide can bounce back.
