Alabama Baseball Takes on Samford at Home: What You Need to Know

One interesting storyline? Infielder Garrett Staton, who transferred from Samford to Alabama after last season, will be facing his former team. Staton was sidelined by an injury in February but made his return last week against North Alabama. His Alabama teammates aren’t making a big deal about the reunion—they’re just happy to have him back on the field.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT, and the game will be streamed live on SEC Network+. This comes after Alabama’s last midweek game against North Alabama had a planned YouTube livestream canceled last minute.

The Crimson Tide (25-4) has been rolling, winning two of three against Oklahoma over the weekend. Meanwhile, Samford (14-14) has struggled against SEC opponents, going 0-5 against Tennessee, Auburn, and Mississippi State. Against common non-SEC opponents like Jacksonville State and North Alabama, the Bulldogs are 1-2.

Alabama has been dominant in nonconference play at home, with just one loss—a surprising 11-8 defeat to Presbyterian College on March 9. The Tide has won two of its first three SEC series and is looking to keep the momentum going against Samford.

Alabama baseball is back in action Tuesday night, taking on in-state opponent Samford at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide, now ranked No. 8 by D1Baseball, is looking to keep up its strong start to the season.
