The Detroit Lions just brought in Alabama edge rusher Que Robinson for a pre-draft visit, giving them a closer look at a late-round prospect with some sneaky upside. The 6’4″, 243-pounder made the trip to Detroit on Monday and is also planning stops with the Falcons and Chiefs.
Robinson, a fifth-year senior, didn’t get a ton of playing time until last season—but he made it count. He logged four sacks and seven tackles for loss in just nine games before a season-ending injury against LSU. Before that, he mainly contributed on special teams, which still might be his ticket to sticking on an NFL roster early in his career.
He’s athletic and has some length, but scouts are split. Some think he could sneak into Day 2, while others have him pegged as a late-round flier. The big question is where he fits—he’s got some edge-rushing tools but might be too light for the role full-time. Still, Detroit’s new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard might see a fit for him as a hybrid linebacker or special teams ace while he develops.
Bottom line: He’s raw, but there’s some juice here—and the Lions clearly see something worth a closer look.
