Alabama’s spring football wraps up this Saturday at noon with a revamped version of A-Day—no scrimmage this time, but we’ll still get a look at what the Tide’s defense is cookin’ for 2025.

Defensive Line:
The D-line has been a bit underwhelming in recent years, but there’s hope. Big man Tim Keenan is back, and LT Overton has flashed some potential—just needs to finish tackles. Watch out for Jeremiah Beaman, who packed on 50+ pounds and might take over at nose. James Smith could be the breakout guy, while international talent Steve Bolo Mboumoua is turning heads after a strong juco year. And will former 5-star Keon Keeley finally make some noise?

Linebackers:
Keep an eye on Colorado transfer Nikhai Hill-Green—he’s got one season left to prove himself. Word is redshirt freshman QB Reese (yes, a QB at linebacker) is “making extreme noise,” and he’s bulked up to 225. Those two will challenge Justin Jefferson for the middle. Qua Russaw looks ready to own the Wolf position.

Secondary:
With Keon Sabb still sidelined after last season’s injury, there’s room for others to shine. Zavier Mincey impressed as a freshman. Newcomer Ivan Taylor might push into the safety mix. At Husky, DaShawn Jones and Red Morgan are battling it out. The corners seem set with Domani Jackson and Zabien Brown, but 5-star Dijon Lee is already making a strong case. Utah transfer Cameron Calhoun is also one to watch.

Punter Battle:
Not flashy, but still a key spot. With James Burnip off to the NFL, Bama brought in top punter recruit Alex Asparuhov—but don’t sleep on Blake Doud from Colorado School of Mines.

Bottom Line:
There’s a lot of fresh faces and returning vets hungry to make an impact on defense. Saturday might not be a full-on game, but it’s a great chance to see who’s rising.
