Alabama’s Ty Simpson Poised for Breakout Season, Says ESPN’s Chris Low”

Is 2025 Ty Simpson’s Time to Shine? ESPN Analyst Thinks So

Alabama is gearing up for a crucial second season under head coach Kalen DeBoer, and with Jalen Milroe heading to the NFL, all eyes are on who will take over at quarterback.

ESPN’s Chris Low believes it’s Ty Simpson’s moment. He picked Simpson as Alabama’s breakout player for 2025, predicting he’ll win the starting job over incoming freshman Keelon Russell and Washington transfer Austin Mack.

Simpson has been waiting for his chance after backing up Milroe, and according to Low, Alabama’s coaching staff has been high on his potential. He may not be as explosive as Milroe, but he’s a more consistent passer—something that could fit well with new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s system.

The big question: Will Simpson finally take the reins and lead the Crimson Tide back to dominance? We’ll get our first look when Alabama kicks off the 2025 season against Florida State on August 30.
