Alex Anzalone isn’t holding back when it comes to defending the Detroit Lions’ defense and their Super Bowl aspirations. After a season full of challenges, including a bunch of injuries to key players, the linebacker made one thing crystal clear: the criticism about their defense not being up to par? “It’s bullshit,” he said flat out during a recent interview.
The Lions Are More Than Capable
Anzalone didn’t stop there. He went on to emphasize that, while the defense hasn’t been perfect recently, the idea that they’re not good enough to win a Super Bowl is just plain ridiculous. “We’ve got to do our part and limit points—that’s job number one for us as a defense,” he explained. “Sure, we’ve had our struggles, but to say we can’t win it all? That’s pretty dumb.”
Focused on the Big Goal
His confidence was clear when he added that it’s an exciting time to be a Detroit Lion. “These are the moments you dream about. As a player, it doesn’t get better than this,” Anzalone said. He also echoed coach Dan Campbell’s sentiments, stressing that this is exactly the kind of situation every player dreams of being in.
Defense Still Ready to Fight
Even with major injuries affecting the defense—Aidan Hutchinson and Alim McNeill have both been banged up—Anzalone’s spirit is high. He believes in the team’s resilience and their potential to prove the doubters wrong. With the NFC North title and a shot at the No. 1 seed up for grabs, the Lions are geared up to take on the challenge and push for a serious Super Bowl run.
