All Eyes on Terrion Arnold as Lions Cornerback Faces Big Year Ahead

The Detroit Lions believe in Terrion Arnold—but the pressure’s real heading into Year 2.

After a rocky rookie season filled with pass interference flags and growing pains, Arnold is now facing serious scrutiny. The Alabama standout was supposed to be Detroit’s next lockdown corner. Instead, he’s landed on a not-so-flattering list: six first-round picks from 2024 who need to step it up to avoid bust labels.

Arnold was flagged seven times for pass interference last season and gave up the 10th-most receptions among all NFL corners, per Pro Football Focus. Opposing QBs posted a 99.2 passer rating when targeting him. Not ideal for a team with Super Bowl expectations.

NFL analyst Matt Holder put it bluntly: “He can’t afford to get off to a slow start in 2025.” Especially not with the Lions trying to make a serious title run.

Despite the criticism, there’s still hope. Arnold did show improvement late in the season and is expected to start this year. If he can grow into his role, he could be the piece Detroit’s secondary has been missing.

But make no mistake—Terrion Arnold’s on the clock. And every snap this season will be under the microscope.
