Amon-Ra St. Brown Didn’t Want to Be a Lion—Now He Can’t Imagine Being Anywhere Else

It’s hard to picture the Detroit Lions without Amon-Ra St. Brown at this point. He’s become the heart of the offense, a Pro Bowl mainstay, and one of the fiercest competitors in the league. But back on draft day in 2021, the now-superstar wideout wasn’t exactly thrilled to get that call from Detroit.

In a recent appearance on Kevin Hart’s “Cold as Balls,” St. Brown admitted he dreaded the moment the Lions selected him in the fourth round. He wanted to play with his brother in Green Bay and even told him ahead of time, “Just, please, I don’t want to go to the Lions.”

Fast forward four years, and Detroit has become the perfect fit. Over 430 receptions, three straight 100-catch seasons, and a Pro Bowl trip each year later, St. Brown now calls his Lions journey “a perfect story.” That chip on his shoulder turned into a driving force, and Detroit fans are reaping the rewards.

Sometimes, the best chapters start with an unexpected twist.
