Amon-Ra St. Brown isn’t one to hold back, and he had plenty to say about the Chicago Bears’ aggressive spending in free agency.
On a recent episode of The St. Brown Podcast, the Detroit Lions star wide receiver reacted to the Bears’ big-money deals, including a three-year, $42 million contract for center Drew Dalman and a $48 million deal for defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo. St. Brown was both impressed and shocked, joking that the Bears must have “unlimited [expletive] money” to be handing out massive contracts left and right.
The spending spree comes as former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson takes over as the Bears’ head coach. Johnson, a key part of Detroit’s recent success, has wasted no time reshaping Chicago’s roster. His goal? To add playmakers on both sides of the ball and build a team that can compete with the NFC North champions.
Meanwhile, the Lions have taken a more measured approach. They re-signed key contributors like Marcus Davenport and Derrick Barnes while bringing in cornerback D.J. Reed to replace Carlton Davis. Brad Holmes’ strategy has been about keeping the core intact while making smart additions, rather than splashing cash on big-name free agents.
The Bears might be making headlines, but the Lions are still the team to beat in the division. St. Brown and company are watching closely—especially with Chicago trying to close the gap.
