Amon-Ra St. Brown couldn’t help but react to the Chicago Bears’ aggressive spending spree in free agency. On his podcast, the Lions’ star receiver joked that the Bears seem to have “unlimited money,” rattling off their high-priced signings, including Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson, and Grady Jarrett.
Led by former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Chicago has been loading up in the trenches, adding major pieces to both their offensive and defensive lines. Protecting Caleb Williams is clearly a priority after he was sacked 68 times last season.
Meanwhile, the Lions have been more measured in free agency. Detroit landed cornerback D.J. Reed on a three-year, $48 million deal and added defensive tackle Roy Lopez for a year at $4.65 million. They’re also expected to bring back running back Craig Reynolds for depth behind Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
While the Bears are making headlines, the Lions are focused on calculated moves that fit their long-term vision. The NFC North battle is only heating up.
