Amon-Ra St. Brown opened up about the Detroit Lions’ devastating playoff loss during a candid (and chilly) interview with Kevin Hart on the latest episode of Cold As Balls. Sitting side-by-side in icy tubs, the Pro Bowl wide receiver revisited what went wrong in the team’s 45–31 collapse against the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round.
Coming off a 15-2 regular season and securing the NFC’s No. 1 seed, the Lions were riding high and considered by many to be Super Bowl favorites. But the dream unraveled quickly. St. Brown didn’t hold back, pointing to one glaring issue—turnovers. “Washington, they played a good game,” he said. “We had some turnovers, you wish you could have those back, but they took care of the ball better than us. I think that’s what it came down to.”
Jared Goff, who had been a model of ball security all year, had a nightmare performance—throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble. Despite fumbling six times during the regular season, Goff hadn’t lost a single one until this playoff matchup. In total, Detroit coughed up the ball four or five times while the Commanders didn’t give it away once.
St. Brown himself had a strong outing, hauling in eight catches for 137 yards and leading all players in receptions and receiving yards, but his effort wasn’t enough to overcome the team’s mistakes. The Lions’ high-powered offense could only do so much when constantly playing from behind due to turnovers.
While St. Brown stayed composed in the freezing water, Hart—an unapologetic Eagles fan—seized the moment to gloat about Philadelphia’s recent championship success. Still, it was clear St. Brown and the Lions feel this loss deeply, especially after a season filled with so much promise. Their early exit now fuels even more urgency for Detroit to clean things up and finally take that next step in 2025.
