Amon-Ra St. Brown’s Go-To Play? He Finally Reveals It

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has given fans plenty of unforgettable moments, but one stands out above all for him—his first career touchdown.

St. Brown, now one of the most dependable targets for quarterback Jared Goff, didn’t start off as the centerpiece of Detroit’s offense when he was drafted in the fourth round back in 2021. His role started growing when Ben Johnson was promoted to passing game coordinator, and from there, he took off.

On his “St. Brown” podcast, the Pro Bowler was asked to pick his favorite play since joining the Lions. Without hesitation, he chose his game-winning touchdown against the Vikings during his rookie season.

“That was my first touchdown—walk-off win, no time left on the clock. We hadn’t won a game all year,” St. Brown recalled. But the moment was about more than just football.

The game took place shortly after the tragic Oxford High School shooting, and the Lions had dedicated the game to the victims and their families. “There were kids from Oxford at the game. I said what’s up to them, and they were so excited,” he said. “We had the Oxford logo on our helmet, coaches had the hats—it was a crazy time in Michigan.”

That play didn’t just give the Lions their first win of the season; it also marked the beginning of St. Brown’s rise as a top receiver in the league. “After that, everything just took off for me,” he said.
