Andrew Benintendi’s Four-RBI Outburst Lifts White Sox Past Mets

The Chicago White Sox finally found their spark—and it came courtesy of Andrew Benintendi.

On Wednesday, Benintendi delivered his best performance of the season, racking up four RBI and finishing just a double shy of the cycle to lead the White Sox to a 9–4 victory over the New York Mets. The win helped Chicago avoid what would have been their seventh sweep of the season.

Early Impact, Late Fireworks

Benintendi got things rolling early with a two-run single in the first inning, setting the tone for a determined Chicago offense. But he wasn’t done. In the sixth, he ripped an RBI triple to deepen the lead, and in the eighth, he crushed his sixth homer of the season to cap off his massive day at the plate.

The performance wasn’t just big—it was necessary. Coming off two straight losses in the series, the White Sox desperately needed a jolt of energy, and Benintendi brought it.

Supporting Cast Comes Through

Benintendi wasn’t the only one putting in work. Lenyn Sosa collected three hits on the day, and Mike Tauchman added a two-run double to keep the pressure on Mets pitching.

The bullpen did its part, too. Brandon Eisert (2–0), the second of five pitchers for Chicago, tossed 1 1/3 hitless innings to pick up the win and keep momentum on the White Sox’s side after the Mets showed signs of a comeback.

A Much-Needed Win

It’s been a tough season for the White Sox, and avoiding another sweep was more than just a moral victory—it was a reminder that this team still has fight. And on a day when the bats woke up and Benintendi looked every bit the veteran leader, the White Sox found a formula that works.

With that kind of energy, maybe there’s more to come.
