Another Cowboy Joins the Saints’ Roster After Moore’s Hiring

The New Orleans Saints are continuing to build Kellen Moore’s coaching staff, and their latest addition is Chase Haslett as the tight ends coach. Haslett, who previously worked with the Dallas Cowboys, has a history with Moore, making this a reunion of sorts.

NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that the Saints have agreed to bring Haslett on board. His father, Jim Haslett, actually coached the Saints from 2000-2005, so there’s some family history in New Orleans.

Moore is focused on turning things around for the Saints, and a strong tight end group could be key—especially for running back Alvin Kamara, who would benefit from improved blocking and receiving from that position. That’s where Haslett comes in.

Haslett worked with the Cowboys in various roles, starting as an offensive quality control coach (2020-22), then assistant tight ends coach (2023), and most recently, a pass game specialist (2024). Moore, on the other hand, was the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator from 2019-22 before taking the same role with the Chargers in 2023 and the Eagles in 2024. Now, they’re teaming up again in New Orleans to revamp the offense for 2025.

Meanwhile, Moore’s former Eagles players had plenty of good things to say about him. Tight end Dallas Goedert praised him, saying he expects Moore to be a great head coach. Goedert even tried convincing him to stay in Philly for another year but ultimately wished him well—except when coaching against the Eagles, of course.

At just 36 years old, Moore believes his age helps him connect with players. He pointed out that when he first became an offensive coordinator at 31, he had former teammates in the locker room. Now, as a head coach, that relatability could be a major asset in building a strong team culture.
