Looks like the Giants might be eyeing a new direction at running back. Even though rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. had a solid season last year—racking up 893 yards and five touchdowns—they’re reportedly doing a deep dive into the 2025 draft class of running backs.
Art Stapleton, a Giants beat reporter, says the team is putting in some serious research and might pounce on a new RB if the right one is available. It’s a bit surprising given how Tracy stepped up, but it seems the team wants more depth—or maybe a new duo in the backfield.
Devin Singletary is also still around. He signed a three-year, $16.5 million deal last offseason and had a decent showing, starting five games and putting up 437 yards with four touchdowns. But his $6.25 million cap hit for this year has the front office thinking. If they cut him after June 1, they’d save $1.5 million. If they hold onto him one more year, they could save $5.25 million by cutting him in 2026.
Along with Tracy and Singletary, the Giants also have Eric Gray and Dante Miller on the roster. So yeah, the backfield’s getting a little crowded—and a new draft pick might just shake things up even more.
