Bama vs. Georgia Baseball Finale Pushed to Sunday

Rain Delays, Schedule Changes: Alabama-Georgia Baseball Series Shifts to Sunday

What started as a typical weekend series has turned into a weather-watching game for Alabama and Georgia baseball fans. Originally set to kick off Friday and wrap up by Saturday, the series schedule has now been pushed around by storms in Tuscaloosa—again.

Rain in the area forced Alabama and Georgia to try and squeeze in a Friday doubleheader, but Mother Nature had other plans. Game two was suspended in the top of the fifth inning with Alabama leading 6-2. After more wet weather rolled through on Saturday and made things even messier, both the suspended game and the series finale were moved to Sunday.

Here’s the updated plan: the suspended game will resume at 10 a.m. CT Sunday, and about 30 minutes after that wraps up, the finale will get underway. That last game has been shortened to seven innings to make room for the double feature.

Georgia took game one in dominant fashion, rolling to a 19-3 win in just seven innings thanks to the SEC’s mercy rule. If Alabama can hold onto its lead when the suspended game resumes, Sunday’s second matchup will decide the series.

The Tide needs this one—badly. Alabama has lost four of its last five SEC series and is trying to end the regular season at home on a high note.

Both of Sunday’s games will be streamed live on SEC Network+. The finale, which is also Alabama’s final home game of the regular season, was originally set to air on SEC Network.
