“Traffic was terrible,” one fan admitted. “But hey, the Mets are winning this year, so it’s worth it!”
The congestion along Peacock Boulevard isn’t news to locals, and the police have been working on a solution. To keep things moving, officers have rolled out a drone unit alongside their regular traffic patrols.
“It’s basically an eye in the sky,” said Sgt. Dominick Mesiti.
Officers Stephen Kravits and Kevin Helseth explained that the drone gives them a real-time view of traffic, helping them adjust the flow and prevent major bottlenecks.
Spring training may be over, but police say the drone system is here to stay.
