Ben Stiller, Paul McCartney & More Push Trump to Protect Artists from AI
Big names in Hollywood and the music industry like Ben Stiller, Paul McCartney, and Ron Howard are speaking out against AI taking over creative work. More than 400 industry pros signed an open letter this week, urging President Trump to keep strong copyright protections in place.
The letter, sent to Trump’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, made it clear: AI should not come at the cost of artists and creators.
“America leads the world in AI, but that shouldn’t mean sacrificing our creative industries,” the letter stated. It pointed out that entertainment provides over 2.3 million jobs and $229 billion in wages every year. The concern? AI companies are using copyrighted films, TV shows, music, and other art to train their models without permission.
The letter was submitted as part of discussions on the Trump administration’s U.S. AI Action Plan. With AI rapidly advancing, Hollywood’s biggest names want to make sure artists don’t get left behind.
