Bet on It: Giants’ Draft Target Sees Himself in the Top 4

The New York Giants might not be going all-in on a quarterback in the upcoming draft, thanks to their recent moves. After signing both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, their need for a new signal-caller isn’t as urgent. That’s got some fans shifting their focus to other potential top picks, like Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter or Penn State’s standout edge rusher Abdul Carter.

Both guys have a shot at being the first non-quarterback taken in the 2025 NFL Draft. With the Giants holding the No. 3 pick, they’re in the mix for either of them—or maybe even Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, depending on what the Tennessee Titans do at No. 1.

Carter, in particular, is feeling pretty confident about his draft stock. He’s making a bold statement with his pre-draft visits.

“Abdul Carter has 30 visits set up in the coming weeks with the Giants and Patriots, per sources,” reported Albert Breer. “He’s already made the trips to visit the Titans and Browns. Confident he’ll go Top 4, I’m told those are the ONLY four teams that the Penn State star plans to visit.”

In other words, Carter is betting on himself.

With 12 sacks and a conference-leading 24 tackles for loss last season, his stats back up the hype. Even though he’s been dealing with a shoulder injury and a nagging foot issue—keeping him from testing at the combine—he’s still viewed as an elite athlete with top-tier pass-rushing skills.

Every team in the top four could justify picking him. The Titans might shock everyone and take him No. 1. The Browns could pair him with Myles Garrett to create a terrifying defensive duo. The Patriots badly need a dominant edge rusher. And as for the Giants?

Well, they already have Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux locked in, but if Hunter is off the board and they aren’t sold on Sanders, Carter could be a solid addition. He’d start as a third rusher but could eventually push Thibodeaux out of the starting lineup.

Right now, the odds of Carter landing in New York aren’t the highest. But his talent makes it an interesting possibility, and some Giants fans are definitely on board.
