The NFL Draft is right around the corner, and the New York Giants have a huge decision to make. Do they take Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders with the No. 3 overall pick? According to the latest Pro Football Network (PFN) mock draft, the answer is yes.
Round 1 (No. 3) – Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
PFN’s Bradley Weissman believes the Giants should pull the trigger on Sanders, despite already signing Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson. His reasoning? Neither of those veteran QBs is a long-term solution, and New York needs to take their shot while they have the chance.
Big Blue View’s Ed Valentine isn’t so sure. He skipped Sanders in his own mock draft and isn’t convinced the Giants have made up their minds yet. CBS Sports analyst Emory Hunt is a believer, though, calling Sanders “the Black Joe Burrow” and dismissing critics who don’t see him as a top pick.
One thing’s for sure—Sanders is the most debated player in this year’s draft class.
Round 2 (No. 34) – Nic Scourton, EDGE, Texas A&M
Adding pass rush help makes sense, especially since Kayvon Thibodeaux’s development has been inconsistent. Scourton has the speed and burst to get after quarterbacks, but Valentine wonders if the Giants should focus on an offensive lineman instead.
Round 3 (No. 65) – Tre Harris, WR, Ole Miss
Harris would be a big-bodied target alongside Malik Nabers, with a great catch radius and after-the-catch ability. But again—where’s the help in the trenches? Valentine thinks the Giants must address the offensive or defensive line soon.
Round 3 (No. 99) – Jake Briningstool, TE, Clemson
A versatile tight end who does a little of everything, Briningstool could be a solid weapon in two-tight end sets. But Valentine’s reaction? A blunt “Seriously?”
Rest of the Draft:
Round 4 (No. 105) – Omarr Norman-Lott, DT, Tennessee
Round 5 (No. 154) – Demetrius Knight Jr., LB, South Carolina
Round 7 (No. 219) – Cody Simon, LB, Ohio State
Round 7 (No. 246) – Kurtis Rourke, QB, Indiana
Valentine is puzzled by the lack of offensive linemen in this mock. Joe Schoen ignored that group last year, and doing it again could be a risky move.
So, what do you think? Should the Giants take Shedeur Sanders and hope he’s their franchise QB, or should they go in a different direction?
