The Buffalo Bills had a bit of a shake-up at safety last season, saying goodbye to long-time veterans Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde and bringing in new starters. But the team might not be done just yet when it comes to bolstering the defense.
According to CBS Sports analyst Kyle Stackpole, the Bills might trade up in the upcoming NFL Draft to snag one of the most versatile defensive players out there South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori. The Bills have been known to trade up in recent drafts, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them make a move to land Emmanwori, who’s a great all-around player.
Buffalo could trade up from No. 30 to No. 24 overall, sending picks No. 30 and No. 109 in exchange. Emmanwori stands out with his ability to play both in the box and deep in coverage, making him a great addition to the Bills’ defense, even though safety isn’t their biggest need.
The team already has Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp at safety, with Cole Bishop also looking to challenge for a starting spot. But Emmanwori’s skillset could help Buffalo push further toward a Super Bowl. Plus, with 10 picks in the draft, they’re in a position to make moves if the right opportunity arises.
But safety isn’t the only position the Bills are looking at. With cornerback Rasul Douglas entering free agency, they’ll need to find a new starter there. Analyst Pete Prisco of CBS Sports thinks Kentucky corner Maxwell Hairston could be the answer, saying he’s not just good in coverage but also a tough tackler, which fits the Bills’ cornerback profile.
