Bittersweet News for Detroit: Mahogany Carted Off, But No Season-Ending Injury

Ouch, Lions fans. Sunday’s matchup against the Vikings was supposed to be a statement game coming off the Week 8 bye—but instead, it turned into a rollercoaster of frustration and worry. Detroit’s offensive lineman Christian Mahogany was carted off the field with a knee injury in the fourth quarter, leaving fans holding their breath.

The silver lining? According to Coach Dan Campbell, it’s not a season-ending injury. Mahogany is expected to be out “probably for a long time”, with a potential return in December. Still, seeing him on crutches isn’t exactly the kind of sight that inspires confidence.

The Lions will need their backups to step up—Kayode Awosika got some snaps in and actually outperformed Mahogany in pass-blocking—but the team will definitely feel the impact of this injury as they look toward the NFL trade deadline.
