The Philadelphia Eagles have already made some key moves this offseason to shore up their pass rush, but they might not be done just yet. After losing longtime defensive lineman Milton Williams to the New England Patriots on a massive four-year, $104 million contract, the Eagles could turn to the trade market to bolster their front four. One name that has surfaced as a potential target is Denver Broncos defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox recently floated a trade proposal that would send Franklin-Myers to the Eagles in exchange for a mid-round draft pick. The 6-foot-4, 288-pound lineman is coming off a productive 2024 season in Denver, where he tallied seven sacks, eight tackles for loss, and 18 quarterback hits. He has experience playing both defensive tackle and defensive end, making him a versatile piece that could help replace Williams’ production.
The Broncos, who led the NFL with 63 sacks last season, might be willing to part ways with Franklin-Myers due to financial constraints. Denver is preparing to pay star pass rusher Nik Bonitto, who racked up 13.5 sacks and is in line for a contract that could exceed $100 million. With other key defenders like Zach Allen on the roster, Franklin-Myers could be the odd man out.
For the Eagles, acquiring Franklin-Myers would provide a proven veteran presence alongside Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari, both of whom were signed on “prove-it” deals in free agency. While Philadelphia typically prefers to build through the draft, adding an experienced lineman could be a safer bet than relying on a rookie to step in and immediately fill Williams’ role.
Franklin-Myers is also on a team-friendly contract, entering the final year of a two-year, $15 million extension he signed in 2024. He is set to make $8 million this season, a reasonable price for a player with his production. If he performs well, the Eagles could even look to extend him beyond 2025.
Philadelphia is built to contend for another Super Bowl, and adding a disruptive, versatile lineman like Franklin-Myers could be the kind of move that strengthens their already formidable defense. If the price is right, this is a trade that makes a lot of sense for both sides.
