Blockbuster Trade Idea: Lions Add $51M Champion to Hutchinson’s Side

The Detroit Lions have been looking for ways to upgrade their pass rush this offseason, but so far, they haven’t made a big move. With most top free agents already off the market, many assume they’ll target an edge rusher in the NFL Draft.

However, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton has floated a different idea—a surprise trade for Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher Bryce Huff. The proposed deal would send Huff to Detroit in exchange for a fourth-round and a seventh-round pick. Huff had a breakout 10-sack season with the Jets in 2023, but his production dipped in 2024 with just two sacks in 12 games. Despite his $51 million contract, his inconsistency raises concerns.

Given the Lions’ approach to free agency—avoiding big spending on edge rushers—it seems unlikely they’d take a chance on Huff. But with their need for pass-rushing help still looming, they’ll have to make a move one way or another before the season kicks off.
