One of the Detroit Lions’ most experienced offensive linemen isn’t afraid to call it like he sees it—and right now, he says the team’s pass protection still has work to do.
Speaking after a recent training camp session, the lineman gave a blunt assessment of the unit’s progress. While the group has been solid in run blocking, he said the pass protection hasn’t quite clicked yet and needs to improve fast before preseason action heats up.
“We’ve got to clean it up. No excuses,” he said. “If we want to be the kind of offense we know we can be, protecting the quarterback has to be a top priority.”
It’s an honest take from a leader up front—and one that reflects the high standards inside the Lions’ locker room. With joint practices and preseason games on the horizon, all eyes will be on how the line responds and sharpens up before the real action begins.
