Breaking Down the Giants’ Draft Strategy as the NFL Draft Nears

Giants’ Draft Options: Who’s the Best Fit at No. 3?

With the NFL Draft just a few weeks away, the New York Giants are sitting on the No. 3 overall pick   and the mock draft community has plenty of opinions on who they should take.

The Giants have some big decisions to make, and the most popular names floating around are Penn State edge rusher     Abdul Carter, Colorado’s two-way star  Travis Hunter, and quarterback  Shedeur Sanders. Here’s a breakdown of each option:

        Abdul Carter, Edge (Penn State)
CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell thinks Carter could be the long-term replacement for Kayvon Thibodeaux if the Giants decide not to pick up his fifth-year option. Carter dominated college football last year, leading the nation with 24 tackles for loss. Adding him to a defensive front that already includes Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns could make New York’s pass rush downright scary.

      Travis Hunter, CB/WR (Colorado)
Hunter is one of the most unique prospects in years. The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner is a playmaker on both offense and defense, and some experts believe the Giants could use him at cornerback while giving him occasional snaps at wide receiver. Pro Football Network raves about his ball skills and athleticism, while  NFL.comes  Lance Zierlein notes that the Giants could get calls from teams wanting to trade up for him.

      Shedeur Sanders, QB (Colorado)
ESPN’s Field Yates isn’t buying the idea that the Giants will pass on Sanders, even after signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. If New York believes Sanders is their franchise QB, the veterans they just signed don’t really matter. Sanders put up huge numbers at Colorado, throwing for over 4,100 yards and completing 74% of his passes. But some scouts wonder if he has any truly elite traits at the next level.

      So, Who’s the Pick?
The Giants could go in multiple directions here   upgrade their defense with Carter, add a Swiss Army knife in Hunter, or secure their QB of the future in Sanders. There’s also the possibility of trading down if another team comes calling. With the draft kicking off April 24, Giants fans won’t have to wait much longer to see which way they go.
