Brian Daboll Absent from Cam Ward’s Pro Day—Draft Clue or Coincidence?

With the 2025 NFL Draft just a month away, teams are in full scouting mode, checking out prospects at pro days, hosting visits, and even taking players out to dinner. But at Miami’s pro day, where top quarterback prospect Cam Ward showed off his skills, there was one noticeable absence from the New York Giants’ camp—head coach Brian Daboll.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Tennessee Titans sent a full squad, including their head coach, Brian Callahan, and several top executives. Meanwhile, the Giants were represented by GM Joe Schoen, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, and other key staff members—but not Daboll.

So what gives? Are the Giants already convinced Ward won’t be available when they pick at No. 3? With rumors swirling that the Cleveland Browns might take him at No. 2—assuming the Titans don’t grab him first—maybe Daboll felt it wasn’t worth the trip. Or perhaps he’s saving his evaluation for a more personal meeting later.

Whatever the case, it’s unusual for a head coach to miss a pro day for a potential franchise quarterback. If the Giants are serious about Ward, you’d think they’d be doing everything possible to evaluate him. But for now, Daboll’s absence raises more questions than answers.
