Bronny James Sets Bold Expectations for Lakers’ 2025-26 Campaign

After an encouraging rookie year, Bronny James is eager to help the Los Angeles Lakers take a big step forward in the upcoming 2025-26 season. Despite falling in the first round of the playoffs this year, Bronny believes brighter days are ahead for the storied franchise.

“Obviously, being on the team, I think we’re going to come back even better than we were last year,” Bronny told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “We just have to come into the gym with purpose, ready to work, and get better every day.”

Bronny’s journey to the NBA wasn’t typical. As LeBron James’ son, he grew up in the spotlight and learned what it takes to be a pro from an early age. Despite averaging just 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in college, his father’s backing helped him land with the Lakers, who drafted him 55th overall in 2024.

Since then, Bronny has split time between the Lakers and their G-League affiliate, working hard to carve out a role. In limited NBA action last season, he averaged 2.7 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game on 31.3% shooting, but he showed flashes of promise that the Lakers hope to unlock further.

The Lakers’ front office and coaching staff have high hopes for Bronny, especially with new head coach JJ Redick providing guidance. Bronny is expected to see more consistent minutes as a backup point guard this season.

The Lakers have been busy this offseason, adding pieces like Adou Thiero, Eric Dixon, and Jake LaRavia, and their biggest splash came with the signing of Deandre Ayton on a two-year deal. Ayton gives Los Angeles the reliable center they’ve been lacking, and his pick-and-roll ability could be a perfect fit alongside Luka Doncic.

With deeper chemistry, new additions, and another year of experience for Redick and the roster, Bronny is confident the Lakers will make a leap in the Western Conference standings.

As rumors swirl about LeBron’s future, Bronny is focused solely on improving his game and helping the Lakers win. He’s determined to prove himself and bring success back to one of the NBA’s most iconic teams.
