With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are both keeping a close eye on potential quarterback options. Holding the No. 2 and No. 3 overall picks, respectively, both teams could be in the market for a franchise passer. However, with Miami QB Cam Ward expected to be the top pick by the Tennessee Titans, they may have to look elsewhere.
One name gaining traction is Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, both the Browns and Giants have spent a “significant amount of time” with Dart ahead of his pro day. While Cleveland is also reportedly interested in Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders—who threw for 37 touchdowns in 2024—they’re keeping their options open.
For the Browns, quarterback uncertainty looms large. Deshaun Watson is expected to miss most of the 2025 season after suffering a second Achilles tear in January, and newly acquired Kenny Pickett has struggled with consistency in his young career. Meanwhile, the Giants signed veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, but neither posted strong numbers last season.
Dart, rated as the No. 3 QB prospect behind Sanders and Ward by Athlon Sports’ Luke Easterling, had an impressive 2024 campaign at Ole Miss. He completed 69.3% of his passes for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns, making him an intriguing option for teams needing a young quarterback to develop.
With Ward likely off the board early, the Browns and Giants will have to decide whether to make a move for Sanders or take a chance on Dart. As draft day nears, both franchises remain heavily invested in finding their quarterback of the future.
