The Cleveland Browns are looking like the favorites to grab Travis Hunter with the second pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. If the Titans go with Cam Ward first overall, the Browns will have their choice of two top prospects: Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter and Colorado’s versatile star Travis Hunter. While Carter was initially considered the front-runner, recent buzz suggests that the Browns might be leaning toward Hunter instead.
NFL insiders believe that Hunter, the Heisman-winning cornerback/receiver, is now the Browns’ top pick. Cleveland has done its homework on him, and he’s a top contender for the second overall spot. However, the Browns still need to figure out their quarterback situation, and they’ve been checking out other options like Shedeur Sanders, although some doubt whether Sanders can be their long-term solution.
Hunter’s future role is still up in the air, but there’s talk of him playing as a receiver in the NFL, which aligns with how other teams view him too. His success on defense, including winning the Chuck Bednarik Award, made him a strong cornerback candidate, but his transition to the NFL might lean more toward a wide receiver position. If the Browns pass on him, teams like the Giants and Patriots could be his landing spots.
The Browns were at Colorado’s pro day to see Hunter in action, with their GM and head coach among those attending. While nothing is set in stone yet, it’s clear that Hunter is a top target for the Browns as the draft approaches.
