Bye Week Didn’t Help: Lions’ Offense Still Searching for Answers After Vikings Loss

Coming out of the bye week, the Detroit Lions promised a sharper, more explosive offense. Instead, what fans saw against the Minnesota Vikings looked all too familiar — sluggish drives, missed opportunities, and a lack of rhythm that left everyone frustrated.

Head coach Dan Campbell and offensive coordinator John Morton spent the extra week focusing on timing, communication, and getting the playmakers more involved. But when it mattered most, Detroit’s offense looked out of sync once again. Jared Goff struggled to find consistency, the offensive line failed to protect him, and the running game couldn’t get off the ground.

Even worse, the Lions wasted several key possessions with penalties and dropped passes. For a team that had two full weeks to prepare, it was a performance that felt like a step backward.

“Execution,” Campbell said after the game. “We worked on it all week, but you can’t practice heart. We’ve got to get back to playing with our edge.”

The loss not only raised questions about the Lions’ offensive identity but also whether the adjustments made during the bye week truly addressed the core issues. With a tough stretch of games ahead, Detroit’s offense will need to find its spark fast — before a promising season starts to slip away.
