The Detroit Lions are still on the hunt for a game-changing pass rusher—and Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson has a name in mind: Trey Hendrickson.
With rumors swirling around the Cincinnati Bengals star DE possibly being available via trade, Johnson chimed in during a recent appearance on the Up and Adams show. When asked about the possibility of Hendrickson teaming up with Aidan Hutchinson, the Lions legend didn’t hold back.
“Man, I would LOVE that,” Johnson said. “Aidan and Hendrickson across from each other… that’s pretty scary.”
And honestly? He’s not wrong.
Hutchinson was on an All-Pro tear before a season-ending injury cut his campaign short—he racked up 7.5 sacks in just five games. Hendrickson, meanwhile, has been a consistent force off the edge for the Bengals but is sitting out of offseason workouts while seeking a new contract. With the Bengals juggling multiple deals, including one for rookie first-rounder Shemar Stewart, Hendrickson could become available.
The Lions have both the cap space and the draft capital to make something happen. Hendrickson is in the final year of his contract, and adding him to a front that already includes Hutchinson could create one of the most fearsome pass-rushing duos in the league.
It’s still just speculation, but when a guy like Megatron is excited about the idea—you know it’s worth watching.
