Cam Ward Works Out, But Where’s Daboll? Giants’ HC Missing in Action

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll was nowhere to be seen at Cam Ward’s Pro Day on Monday at the University of Miami. While Ward was impressing scouts with precision throws and even pulling off a “Philly Special” trick play, Daboll was MIA.

So, what’s the deal? Could it be that Daboll has accepted the fact that Ward won’t be available when the Giants pick at No. 3? Ward is widely expected to go first overall to the Tennessee Titans, and they aren’t looking to trade the pick.

NFL insider Albert Breer pointed out on social media that the Titans showed up in full force. Their entourage included head coach Brian Callahan, offensive coordinator Nick Holz, and several top executives. “First pick in hand, the cavalry’s at The U,” Breer posted.

As for the Giants, GM Joe Schoen, OC Mike Kafka, and other key personnel were there, but without Daboll. His absence raised eyebrows, especially since most head coaches tend to show up for top QB prospects.

But there may be a simple explanation—Daboll could be planning to meet Ward in a private, top-30 visit in New Jersey, where he won’t have to share him with other teams. Either way, it’s clear the Giants are keeping an eye on Ward, even if their coach decided to skip the Miami trip.
