Camp Pressure Rising: These 3 Lions Are Fighting for Their Careers

As the Detroit Lions gear up for the start of 2025 training camp, all eyes aren’t just on the rising stars and big-name veterans — they’re also on the guys fighting for their NFL futures. Every year, a few players enter camp knowing it’s do-or-die time, and this summer is no different.

This year, three Lions in particular are entering make-or-break training camps:

1. Levi Onwuzurike – DT
Injuries have haunted Onwuzurike since he entered the league, and now he’s running out of chances to make an impact. The defensive line is deeper and more competitive than ever, and if he can’t stay healthy — or stand out — the Lions may decide to move on.

2. James Houston – EDGE
Houston exploded onto the scene in 2022 with 8 sacks in just 7 games. But injuries and inconsistency have slowed him down since. He needs to prove he can be a reliable pass-rush threat off the edge, or risk being buried on the depth chart.

3. Zonovan Knight – RB
With Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery holding down the top two spots in the backfield, Knight is in a tough spot. He’ll need to shine not just as a runner, but on special teams to secure a spot on the 53-man roster.

For these three, it’s more than just camp — it’s a career crossroads. The spotlight is on, the pressure is high, and how they respond could define their future in Detroit — or elsewhere.
