After a tough 41–34 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell made it clear: there would be no spin, no excuses, and no softening the blow for fans or players alike. As the 2025 season enters its most critical stretch, Campbell’s postgame comments were equal parts sobering and urgent.
No Excuses, Just Reality
Campbell didn’t hide behind refereeing calls, missed opportunities, or the ebb and flow of the game. Instead, he delivered a straightforward assessment of his team’s situation.
While acknowledging that the Lions “competed and showed flashes of what they’re capable of,” he stressed that the reality is simple: this team is running out of room for mistakes. “Almost” or “close” performances will no longer suffice if Detroit wants to remain in the playoff hunt.
