Josh Allen Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week After Record-Breaking Performance
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has earned his third AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor this season — and the 14th of his career — following a standout performance in the team’s thrilling 48-42 victory over the NFC-leading Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.
Ending the Lions’ Streak in Spectacular Fashion
Allen was instrumental in snapping the Lions’ impressive 11-game winning streak, delivering a game for the history books. He threw for 362 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 68 yards and two more scores.
This incredible effort made Allen the first player in NFL history to achieve:
- Multiple passing touchdowns
- Multiple rushing touchdowns
- 350+ passing yards
- 60+ rushing yards
… all in the same game, including playoffs.
Additionally, he became the first player ever to record at least two passing and two rushing touchdowns in consecutive games. Allen also set another milestone with his third such game in a single season — a feat no other player has accomplished.

The Bills came out strong, building a two-score lead by halftime and extending it to three scores early in the second half. Allen’s clutch plays, including key late-game runs and passes, kept the Lions at bay despite their late comeback attempt.
“The mindset we had this week was win every play,” Allen said. “Whatever the play was, find a way to execute it at the highest level.”

Allen’s two rushing touchdowns brought his career total to 64, leaving him just one behind franchise legend Thurman Thomas (65) for the most in Bills history.
In terms of overall success, Allen also tied Patrick Mahomes (74 wins) for the second-most regular-season wins by a quarterback in their first seven seasons in NFL history.
