Could the Lions Draft Amon-Ra St. Brown 2.0? Mock Links Detroit to Emeka Egbuka

It’s officially NFL Draft week, and the mock drafts are rolling in fast. One of the more interesting predictions comes from Draft Countdown’s Brian Lamb, who has the Detroit Lions selecting Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka with the 28th overall pick. And the buzz? Egbuka is already being labeled as “Amon-Ra St. Brown 2.0.”

The comparison goes beyond just their shared position. Like St. Brown, Egbuka thrives in the slot, runs precise routes, and has the knack for making tough, contested catches. Despite battling injuries during his final year, he led Ohio State in receptions, served as a team captain, and earned All-Big Ten honors. His tape screams high IQ, high-effort — all traits the Lions love.

Now, Detroit already has their WR1 locked up long term in St. Brown, so doubling up on another slot receiver might raise some eyebrows. But with new offensive coordinator John Morton calling plays, having two crafty, tough-minded slot weapons could give defenses serious problems — especially with Jameson Williams stretching the field.

It may not be a move out of necessity, but it’s a move that could make the Lions’ offense even more dangerous. If it happens, don’t be surprised when Emeka Egbuka is catching passes at Ford Field sooner than later.
