The Detroit Lions recently had an official pre-draft meeting with Alabama EDGE rusher Que Robinson, a prospect who’s been generating some buzz ahead of the NFL Draft. Robinson, a senior for the Crimson Tide, visited the Lions on Monday before heading out to meet with other teams.

NFL reporter Jordan Schultz shared that Robinson’s potential draft position remains a bit of a mystery. While some expect him to be selected on Day 2, others predict he could fall to the later rounds, possibly rounds five through seven.

Lance Zierlein, an NFL analyst, describes Robinson as a fifth-year senior with a unique body type that falls somewhere between an edge rusher and an off-ball linebacker. “Robinson played primarily on special teams until 2024. He’s long and athletic but might be too light for the edge,” Zierlein noted. “He needs more schooling and game reps to play off the ball. He can run the arc as an edge rusher and has the ability to mismatch guards as an off-ball blitzer or spy mobile quarterbacks.”

In the 2024 season, Robinson notched four sacks and seven tackles for loss over nine games with Alabama, starting five of those before his season was cut short by an injury against LSU. While his physicality has been called into question, his athletic traits are seen as enough to make him a versatile special teams player with potential for growth as a hybrid linebacker.

For the Lions, new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard could use Robinson in a variety of ways, especially as a SAM linebacker or in pass-rushing situations. Early in his career, however, Robinson might primarily contribute on special teams, given the depth Detroit already has at linebacker. Robinson’s draft journey doesn’t end with the Lions, as he also has visits lined up with the Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs.
