The Dallas Cowboys’ interior defensive line is still in the works, even after re-signing Osa Odighizuwa and picking up Solomon Thomas in free agency. While there’s hope that Mazi Smith will step up in his third year with the team, the Cowboys could still use more depth.
Luckily, the 2025 NFL Draft has a solid crop of defensive tackles, so the Cowboys can afford to hold off on addressing this position early in the draft. With seven picks between rounds five and seven, Day 3 could be the perfect chance to snag a big, space-eating nose tackle to boost their run defense.
Here are some potential Day 3 targets for the Cowboys:
1. Cam Horsley, Boston College (6’2”, 312) A fifth-round pick with solid size and power to dominate the line of scrimmage. Could be a reliable rotational nose tackle for the future.
2. Yahya Black, Iowa (6’5”, 336) Another fifth-round prospect, Black is great at clogging up running lanes and can fit into any defensive scheme. He’ll need to develop more disruptive skills to be a three-down player.
3. Nazir Stackhouse, Georgia (6’3”, 327) Ranked as a fifth/sixth-round pick, Stackhouse is a powerful force in the middle and could provide solid depth as an early-down nose tackle.
4. Elijah Simmons, Tennessee (6’1”, 334) A sixth/seventh-round prospect with a strong build to handle run blocks and double teams. He’ll need to prove he can handle a larger workload, but could be an early-down nose tackle.
5. Zeek Biggers, Georgia Tech (6’5”, 321) A seventh-round pick with good size, but needs to improve his consistency on the field. He’s got the tools to fit into various defensive schemes.
With a handful of DTs available in this range, the Cowboys could add some much-needed depth to their defensive line on Day 3 of the draft.
