Cowboys Draft Target Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations at NFL Combine

A High-Profile Prospect Faces Tough Questions

As the Dallas Cowboys evaluate their options for the upcoming NFL Draft, one of their potential targets, Marshall edge rusher Mike Green, is addressing more than just football-related questions. At the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Green publicly denied sexual assault allegations tied to his departure from Virginia in 2022.

Green Speaks Out on Allegations

When asked about the situation, Green was adamant in his response. “I haven’t done nothing wrong,” he told reporters. He emphasized that he had never been formally questioned about the accusations that led to his exit from Virginia’s football program.

“There’s accusations out there,” Green said. “I’ve never been questioned. I’ve never been asked… It was just accusations that caused me to leave from there.”

Green acknowledged that he had faced allegations twice—once in high school and once in college—but did not go into further detail about either case.

A Top Pass-Rushing Prospect

Despite the off-field controversy, Green remains one of the top pass-rushing prospects in the draft. After leading college football with 17 sacks in 2024, he has caught the attention of NFL scouts. Draft expert Daniel Jeremiah ranks him as the 17th overall prospect, and his performance at the Senior Bowl only solidified his stock.

For the Cowboys, who may be looking to transition from veteran DeMarcus Lawrence to a younger pass-rushing core, Green presents an intriguing option. Pairing him with Micah Parsons could create a formidable defensive duo. However, Dallas will have to weigh his talent against the concerns surrounding his past.

How Will the Cowboys Proceed?

Green’s situation puts NFL teams in a difficult position. While his talent is undeniable, the unresolved nature of the allegations could give franchises pause. The Cowboys, holding the No. 12 pick, will have to decide whether Green’s upside outweighs the potential risks.

With the draft approaching, Green’s responses at the Combine may influence how teams—including Dallas—view his future in the league.
