Cowboys, Giants Among NFL Teams Eyeing UCLA’s Top Defender

UCLA linebacker Carson Schwesinger is making a significant splash ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, drawing attention from 30 NFL teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and New Orleans Saints. Schwesinger impressed scouts with his athleticism at a private workout in Los Angeles, where he showcased his skills in position drills and recorded impressive numbers: a 10’7″ broad jump, a 6.9-second 3-cone drill, and a 4.1-second 20-yard shuttle.

Schwesinger’s journey to this point has been an underdog story. Initially a walk-on at UCLA, he went unranked by national recruiting outlets and faced challenges, including the COVID-19 era that affected his recruitment. However, Schwesinger went on to earn All-American honors and led the Big Ten Conference with 90 solo tackles in his first season as a starter. Known for his speed, range, and exceptional instincts, Schwesinger is now considered one of the top linebacker prospects for this year’s draft.

NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein has praised Schwesinger’s play recognition and his ability to excel in Cover 2 schemes, further boosting his draft stock. As a result, he is expected to continue UCLA’s tradition of producing NFL draft picks.
