Cowboys Legend Calls Out Dak Prescott’s Performance

Michael Irvin, a Dallas Cowboys legend, gave Dak Prescott a heads-up after the team traded for QB Joe Milton from the New England Patriots. The Cowboys got Milton and a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a fifth-round pick. The move fills a need for a backup QB with potential, much like how Trey Lance was brought in for a similar role in previous seasons.

Milton, drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round, has a strong arm but needs to work on his accuracy. He had a decent performance last season with 241 yards and a touchdown in his only start. Irvin, though, warned Prescott to stay on top of his game. “Don’t give this kid a chance, Dak,” he said. “You’re making $60 million a year, he’s making $1 million. If you let him play, it could get ugly.”

Milton’s situation reminds fans of Prescott’s own journey to the starting role when he was a fourth-round pick. However, Prescott’s deal with Dallas is hefty — a four-year, $240 million contract — and he also has a no-trade clause, so it’s unlikely the Cowboys will be moving on from him anytime soon.

Milton, excited about the trade, is looking forward to competing for the backup role with Will Grier and learning from Prescott. He already feels a good vibe from the veteran QB and is eager to soak in the knowledge.

As for Prescott, he’s recovering from a hamstring injury that cut his season short last year. He’s been training hard and is expected to be ready for the start of the season. The Cowboys are being cautious, but Prescott’s recovery is on track, and he should be good to go once the season kicks off.
